Molybdenum is a cofactor in three important enzymatic reactions – xanthine oxidase/dehydrogenase, aldehyde oxidase, and sulfite oxidase. The first two enzymatic reactions play a role in the liver's detoxification of environmental toxins, certain drugs, estradiol, and progesterone.
