We removed ingredients which may be contraindicated for patients concerned with Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and replaced them with substances known to assist in healthy maintenance and repair of the intestinal barrier’s mucosa, without the potentially negative effects on bacterial balance.
We removed Licorice Root, Slippery Elm, and N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine. While valuable for numerous therapeutic purposes, these ingredients have the potential to feed the bacteria which contribute to SIBO.
We added Cat’s Claw Bark Extract (300 mg per serving) and Phosphatidylcholine (from sunflower seed, 300 mg per serving). These ingredients have recently increased in popularity for their broad health benefits, including specific benefits to the intestinal barrier.
While researching the Support Mucosa upgrade, there were several ingredients that rose to the top of the list – based on published studies as well as input obtained from customers, physicians, and manufacturing partners. Robust amounts of Cat’s Claw Bark Extract Phosphatidylcholine (derived from sunflower) were the best option.
Nourish and Restore
Healing of the mucosal barrier can occur when the causes are removed and targeted nutrition is delivered. Support Mucosa is specifically formulated to support the mucosal barrier of the gut wall, restoring healthy form and function to tissue. It plays several roles in soothing and restoring the intestinal lining.
A principal component in the formula is the amino acid Glutamine. Glutamines ability to support the mucosal barrier cells and tissue is well known in nutritional science.
