What is Deluxe Scavengers™?
Deluxe Scavengers™ is a premium antioxidant formula providing a wide range of ingredients for support against oxidative stress and free radical damage. Each two-capsule serving contains antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E in superior forms found in nature. That includes natural mixed carotenoids with beta carotene, alpha carotene, cryptoxanthin, zeaxanthin and lutein, both water and fat-soluble vitamin C, naturally sourced vitamin E from d-alpha, and mixed tocopherols. The capsules also contain coenzyme Q10, which is both an antioxidant and a mitochondrial coenzyme necessary for cellular ATP production. Our CoQ10 is the natural, all-trans form made in Japan or the US. Setria® L-glutathione (the body’s master antioxidant) and Pomella® pomegranate extract with 30% punicalagins have also been added to the formula. Punicalagins are the major antioxidants in pomegranate fruit and have been shown to have greater antioxidant activity than resveratrol, green tea, grape seed, goji, or acai.
How does Deluxe Scavengers™ Work?
Toxins and pollutants are abundant in our environment, challenging our body’s ability to avoid oxidative stress (OS). OS occurs when there is an imbalance between the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) such as free radicals and peroxides, and the system’s ability to detoxify reactive intermediates and repair the damage. ROS damage all parts of the cell, including proteins, lipids, and DNA, and are associated with many common, serious health issues such as cardiovascular disease, as well as the physical signs of aging. Additionally, our natural production of many endogenous antioxidant compounds slows as we age. Although some antioxidants are present in the diet, this is not sufficient support for many people against OS. Deluxe Scavengers™ can aid in your body’s defense against oxidative damage by providing you with a range of the most effective antioxidants available, based on the latest scientific research.
One such antioxidant is coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10 or ubiquinone), which is present in the mitochondria of every cell, but due to its essential role in cellular energy production, it is most highly concentrated in cell types that need and use the most energy, such as the cardiac cells of the heart. Because of this, cardiac cells are extremely sensitive to CoQ10 deficiency. In addition to CoQ10‘s powerful antioxidant properties, it also acts as a vasodilator, inhibits LDL oxidation which can lead to atherosclerosis, and decreases inflammatory cytokines.
Setria® is a branded form of the body’s master antioxidant, L-glutathione. Glutathione is credited with protecting cells against oxidative stress, detoxification of toxins and carcinogens, posttranslational regulation of protein function, and maintenance of immune function. Even partial glutathione depletion impairs immune function and increases susceptibility to a wide range of environmental toxins and oxidative damage. Low glutathione levels are associated with increased risks of numerous diseases including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, arthritis and diabetes. Setria® is a unique tripeptide form that has been clinically shown to raise blood glutathione levels with oral intake.
Lutein and Zeaxanthin are antioxidant pigment compounds called carotenoids that have long been associated with eye health. A number of studies have indicated that lutein and zeaxanthin play protective roles against age-related vision loss as well as skin damage from UV rays. Recent studies show they are important for cardiovascular and cellular health as well .
Pomella® pomegranate extract with 30% punicalagins has been shown to inhibit the formation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs), molecules that play a role in the pathology of chronic diseases typically related to aging. The antioxidant action of punicalagin initiates both scavenging reactions and the formation of metal chelates, a major component of enzyme functionality.
