The Science
Vitamin D is one of the most critical vitamins for overall health and robust immunity. In the immune system, both T and B cells act as the body's first line of defense and require vitamin D. As Vitamin D3 is manufactured in the skin by direct sunlight exposure, lower levels are often associated with the cooler seasons. It is also only found in a small number of foods (predominantly animal sources). These two primary factors contribute to a common worldwide deficiency. Vitamin D is associated with increased susceptibility to immune invaders. Vitamin D levels have been shown to decline with age, due primarily to a reduction in either absorption or metabolism by the liver, decreased exposure to sunlight or a low intake of vitamin D fortified foods. Luckily, supplementation has shown to be beneficial.
Vitamin D3 is also considered to be superior to D2 in regard to the maintenance of cardiovascular health. D3 has been studied for its ability to regulate blood levels and therefore supports healthy cardiovascular function. EquiLife's high potency Vitamin D3 Formula is a concentrated, highly bioavailable liquid vitamin D formulation offering a broad range of dosages and titration possibilities. Vitamin D3 plays an important role in maintaining strong bones throughout life by promoting the absorption of calcium through the diet and helping to maintain adequate levels required for healthy bone composition.
