Panplex 2-Phase offers a combination of ingredients to promote gastric and intestinal digestive health.* Each capsule’s ingredients support the gastric phase of digestion (phase I), and the small intestinal phase of digestion (phase II).* This 2-phase approach supports the early stages of digestion which initiate the breakdown of macronutrients for optimal absorption in the intestinal tract.*
The PHASE I components of Panplex 2-phase support digestion in the stomach with hydrochloric acid (HCl) and pepsin concentrate.* Two requirements must be met for the gastric digestion of proteins: a low pH, or highly acidic, environment and the presence of pepsin. Without normal gastric acidity, pepsin will not be active. Once activated, pepsin enzymatically breaks down proteins into peptides. During the gastric phase of digestion, proteins and fats are broken down into smaller molecules and certain vitamins and minerals are released from food that are then further digested and absorbed in the small intestine.
The PHASE II component supplements digestive enzymes along with bile to support the intestinal phase of digestion.* Following the gastric digestion by acid and pepsin, enzymes in the small intestine continue the processes of breaking down macronutrients. Amylase, lipase, and protease enzymes found in Pancreatin promote the digestion of carbohydrates, and further breakdown of fats and proteins.*
